Bethel Salon Goes Blue For Foster Care Awareness

Bethel Salon Goes Blue For Foster Care Awareness

A Bethel salon has found an unusual way to raise awareness for foster care. Salon Kamala, located at 47 Stony Hill Road, is donating their services to place blue hair streaks in the hair of their customers to promote awareness for foster parents. Salon Kamala owner Becky Roman said: “When I heard about this I was happy to help because I have friends and family who have been foster parents and its a really great thing to do.”

Each May, National Foster Care Awareness Month, provides an opportunity to shine a light on the urgent needs of young people throughout Connecticut who are in need of foster parents. The program encourages citizens from every walk of life to get involved – either as foster or adoptive parents, or messengers of the cause. Salon Kamala has agreed to offer the complimentary and unique hair service because the owner wants to get involved with different charities and to help the community, she said. The blue hair highlights will serve as a visual reminder of the over 4,000 children in Connecticut who reside in foster care. Every child deserves a home. Streak a strand and help spread their message!

Roman said: “I like to support the causes that help children because they are the most helpless. All that they need is what every child should have automatically, a loving, safe home. So that’s why I Like to do what I can.”

The free blue streaks will be available at Salon Kamala during the month of May. Call the salon to schedule an appointment at 203-788-0778.
