Clinicians and Professionals Invited to Hear New Perspectives on Death, Dying, Grief

The following is a press release from Regional Hospice of Danbury–

DANBURY, CT— Have dying and grieving changed with advances in technology? What are some of the new perspectives on how clinicians and professionals can help their patients and patients’ families consider death, dying and grief?

On Thursday, November 10, 2011, Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT, Inc. will present “Beyond Kubler-Ross: New Perspectives on Death, Dying and Grief,” a Hospice of America video-conference that takes a fresh look at what every clinician and professional working with dying patients and their families should understand. CEU credits are available.

The presentation will explore current theory and how to apply the latest ideas into practice. It will take place at Union Savings Bank on North St. in Danbury from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Those wanting to receive CEUs must attend the panel discussion that follows the video presentation. Panelists include: Rabbi Dr. Jeffery Silverman, Director of Spiritual Care at Danbury Hospital; Regional Hospice and Home Care Nurse Joan Thorburn, RN, BSN; Regional Hospice and Home Care Social Worker Sherri Reene, MSW; and Joanna DeNicola, MSW, LCSW, MPA, Program Director at Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families, a program of Regional Hospice and Home Care.

more–The Rev. Carolyn Legg, Regional Hospice and Home Care chaplain, will facilitate the presentation. The Rev. Legg has extensive experience supporting patients and families during end of life. She is a certified trainer and group facilitator and has completed education for pastoral education certification. She earned degrees from Fairfield University, New Haven University and Hartford Seminary.
