DANBURY — When a loved one dies it may be difficult to know how to help children cope. Children grieve differently than adults and may not be able to put their feelings into words. They may feel uncomfortable expressing themselves in ways that adults expect. To help parents and caregivers learn more about kids’ needs and how to talk with them about their loss, The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families will host a special workshop, “Talking With Kids About Death and Grieving,” on September 26, 2011, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The workshop will be led by Janet Loya, MS, a facilitator at The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families. Ms. Loya has an extensive background in social work and education, and has worked with bereaved children and families for many years.

The Healing Hearts Center for Grieving Children & Families, a program of Regional Hospice and Home Care of Western CT, offers numerous support groups, workshops and programs to the public throughout the year. For more information or to participate in the upcoming workshop, please call Healing Hearts at (203) 792-4422. To find out more about Regional Hospice and Home Care, visit www.RegionalHospiceCT.org.
